Arachova is a small traditional town, built at the slopes of Mount Parnassos in an altitude of 960m.
The Mykonos of winter, as people call it, attracts many tourists who visit it in order to relax and enjoy the white surrounding area.
The town is 25 km from the Ski center of Parnassos with the latest winter sports equipment available for sale or rental.
It has approximately 4.000 inhabitants and it is also considered ideal for a cool summer vacation away from the crowds, as it is close to beaches of Itea and mountain hiking trails.
Arachova is famous for its hand-woven fabrics. It is a great place to buy a "flokati" rug, or brightly colored shoulder bags. Visitors can enjoy the local delicacies like "kontosouvli" (grilled meat), fine wine and the unique cheeses produced here - "formaela" and "opsomotyri" at one of the many taverns of the area. |
